Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mark Mercury (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Morgan Hyde (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mercury's entrance music is you got another thing comin'. A fine choice. Morgan Hyde will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Morgan Hyde!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Reed Andrews and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mercury on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Hyde throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Mercury.

Mercury gets the takedown into side control.
Mercury tries to advance to mount but can't.
Mercury is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Hyde will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Hyde is looking to regain half guard here but Mercury keeps moving and retains side control.
Hyde is trying to work for a sweep but Mercury has mounted him!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mercury fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Hyde is still in real trouble! Can Mercury finish him?

Mercury has control of Hyde's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Hyde regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Hyde seems to have recovered his senses.
Mercury trying to control but Hyde is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mercury postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Hyde looks a forlorn figure.
Hyde swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Mercury cracks Hyde with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Hyde is in all sorts of trouble here.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Mercury throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Hyde because Mercury loaded up on that one.
Mercury prevents Hyde from getting the reversal.
Mercury can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Hyde is looking to escape.
Mercury is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Hyde swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Hyde gets back to half guard.
Mercury passes the guard and advances to mount!

Mercury looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Hyde is trying desperately to improve position.

Hyde regains half guard.

Mercury is looking for a kimura but Hyde is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Mercury to get the leverage.
Hyde moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Mercury wants to pass the guard but Hyde is keeping the position.
Mercury is breathing heavily.
Hyde striking off his back but it's not causing Mercury any problems.
Hyde trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Hyde tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Mercury tries to free his leg and advance position but Hyde is retaining full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Hyde tries to bum rush Mercury with a series of wild strikes but Mercury uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Mercury darts in and clinches Hyde up against the cage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A knee to the head by Mercury.
Mercury lands a knee to the body.

Mercury breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hyde connects with a looping right hand.

Hyde gets caught flat footed, as Mercury shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Mercury wants to control from the top but Hyde keeps moving.
Hyde throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Hyde is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Hyde throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Mercury tries to get to full guard but Hyde has control of the leg.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Mercury blocking the ground and pound attempt from Hyde.
Mercury is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The fighters are battling for position here. Mercury manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Mercury tries to strike from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hyde throws a series of punches but Mercury moves out of range.
Mark Mercury is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Nice sprawl there from Hyde as Mercury shoots in.

Mercury rushes Hyde and presses him up against the cage.

Mercury breaks the clinch.
Left hook, right uppercut from Hyde.
Mercury takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Nice takedown defense from Hyde. No joy for Mercury on that attempt.
Mercury gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Mercury is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Hyde.
Oh Mercury is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hyde cracks a nice hook into Mercury's ribs.
Hyde drops Mercury with a big left hand! Mercury is injured, injured bad! Hyde jumps in and finished him with strikes! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Morgan Hyde!
