Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mike Ross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Beast Of The East (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Ross might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Neck of the Woods. Beast Of The East has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mike Ross!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Beast Of The East!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Chad Campbell and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The East jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Ross showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from The East.
Mike Ross seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The East shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than The East was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Ross is trying to control The East's posture but The East avoids it.
The East working the ground and pound but Ross is defending the strikes.

The East tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no The East has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Ross is trying to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The East grinds an elbow into Ross's temple.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ross is looking for a sweep.
The East tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

Ross isn't going anywhere.
The East looks up at the clock and then as Ross takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, The East smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

The East is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Ross is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

The East tries to move to mount but Ross blocks the move with his legs.
Ross is not content to let The East control the position.
Ross can't do much from the bottom here.
Ross manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

The East is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ross is just riding it out for now. The East eventually gives up the hold.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Ross holds on and takes a little breather.

Beast Of The East has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Ross takes a swing at The East's ribcage but misses.
The East throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
The East uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Ross.
Ross tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but The East was well out of range. Poor timing from Ross.
The East looks to land a right hand but Ross moved out of range.
Ross slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Ross lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
The East throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Ross sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Ross goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Ross throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around The East's waist but The East gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ross off to one side.
Ross rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but The East moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ross throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Ross thows a body shot but no joy.
Nice straight punches there by Ross. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Ross.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The East misses with a straight left.
Ross moves away from the strike by The East.
Ross slips under a jab.
Ross fails in his attempt to clinch.
The East tries a head kick but it misses.
The East ducks under a wild hook from Ross.
Ross buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Ross throws a jab but it's blocked by The East.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
A swing and a miss from Ross.
Ross avoids the head kick by The East.
The East fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
The East fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Ross checks it well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Beast Of The East will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Ross walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Ross throws a hook but The East avoids it easily.
The East shoots in looking for a takedown. Ross tries to sprawl out of it but The East keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ross manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
The East lands a right hook to the body.
The East on the wrong end of a nice jab.
The East looks to land a left hand but Ross moved out of range nicely.
Ross scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Ross lands with an uppercut that bounces The East off the cage and back into range.

The East shoots in looking for a takedown but Ross manages to keep the fight standing, pushing The East's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The East on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Ross buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Ross finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
The East takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Ross catches The East with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

The East has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Ross finds it's way round the side to connect with The East's head.
Ross stuns The East with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Ross displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as The East throws out the jab.
The East looks for a takedown but Ross sprawls well.
Mike Ross has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Beast Of The East.
The East is breathing heavily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Ross fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. The East looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
The East uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Ross.

A slapping leg kick lands for Ross.
Ross lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

and Ross counters with a right hand to the body.
A left lands for Ross.
The East lunges at Ross with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Ross's hand.
The East takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Ross throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. The East tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Ross is in The East's guard.

Ross bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Ross feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits The Easts jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Ross throws a lazy right hand but The East sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Ross.
Ross lands a jab.
A slow jab from The East misses its intended target.
The East blocks a low kick nicely.
The East moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Ross tries to clinch up but The East circles away and keeps his distance.

Ross throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
The East throws a sloppy head kick and Ross moves out of range easily.

The East misses with a series of wild punches.
Ross throws an overhand right that lands on The East's shoulder, as The East tries to avoid the shot.
Ross loads up on a big right hand but The East slips the punch.

Ross is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because The East is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Ross has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
