Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sasa Gusi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bruce Irvin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gusi comes to the cage accompanied by Ekipa- BGD Syndicate. Irvin has chosen Jimmy Eat World - Pain as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 17 - 0, fighting out of London, Sasa Gusi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bruce Irvin!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Albert Achterberg and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Irvin misses with a kick to the body
and Gusi counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Irvin thinking.

so Gusi counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Irvin is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Gusi is controlling him.
Gusi throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Irvin avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Gusi wants to pass the guard but Irvin is keeping the position.
Irvin keeping moving, preventing Gusi from controlling successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Irvin wants to stand and escape but Gusi is having none of it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Gusi has gone for a leg lock! Irvin slips out almost immediately though and dives into Gusi's guard.
Gusi has control of Irvin's left arm, preventing Irvin from doing any damage.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Irvin is looking to clinch but Gusi is avoiding it.
Irvin finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Irvin throws a sloppy head kick and Gusi moves out of range easily.

Irvin rushes Gusi and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Gusi dodges an elbow strike from Irvin.
Irvin gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Gusi.

Gusi is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Irvin can't fight it off and eventually Gusi manages to take the fight to the floor. Irvin looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Gusi lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Gusi seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Gusi stands and throws Irvin's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Gusi is looking to take a break and control but Irvin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Gusi goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Irvin has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Gusi but great work by Irvin.
Gusi is trying to get back to half guard.
Irvin advances nicely into full mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sasa Gusi dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Irvin scores with a head kick. Gusi tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

Irvin lands a nice elbow.
Irvin stalling in the clinch but Gusi improves position.

Bruce Irvin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Irvin pulls out of a head kick attempt.

and Gusi counters with a lovely straight right hand!

and Gusi makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Gusi looks to land a left hand but Irvin moved out of range nicely.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Gusi tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Irvin smiles and moves away.

Gusi manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Irvin on his heels. He'll look to pass Irvin's guard now, I'm sure.

Sasa Gusi overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gusi postures up in Irvin's guard and throws a big left but Irvin blocks it.

Gusi sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Irvin's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Irvin kicks Gusi off and gets back to his feet.
Gusi takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Gusi blocks a head kick by Irvin.
Irvin lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Irvin tries to clinch up but Gusi circles away and keeps his distance.
Gusi moves out of range of the body kick from Irvin.
Irvin throws a head kick that misses.

Gusi closes the distance and clinches.
Gusi on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Irvin obliges.
Gusi blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Irvin stops a takedown attempt from Gusi.
Irvin tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Gusi avoids it.
Irvin throws an elbow but it misses.

Gusi jumps guard and drags Irvin to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Gusi controls Irvin momentarily but Irvin frees himself.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gusi working a defensive guard but Irvin manages to pass into side control anyway.
Gusi wants to control but Irvin postures up.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Irvin is looking to take a break and control but Gusi is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Sasa Gusi will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Gusi drops back looking for a leg! Irvin is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Irvin manages to kick Gusi off! Gusi jumps back into Irvin's guard.

Irvin bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Gusi's guard.
Irvin wants to control from the top but Gusi keeps moving.
Gusi controls Irvin momentarily but Irvin frees himself.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Irvin accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Gusi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Irvin gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Irvin got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gusi has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Irvin has managed to get both his arms back between Gusi's legs - danger averted.
Bruce Irvin has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Gusi wants to hit a switch here but Irvin passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Gusi there!
Gusi is in all sorts of trouble here.
Gusi is working hard here to advance position.
Irvin wants to control but Gusi has made it back to half guard. Nice work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gusi is trying to maintain the position but Irvin is very close to passing his half guard.
Irvin is just content to waste time from the top position. Gusi takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Irvin drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Gusi dives on top into guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Sasa Gusi showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Gusi, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
