Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Richie Walpole (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jan Kozak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Richie Walpole!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jan Kozak!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Viktor Lagutenko and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed right hand from Kozak misses the target.
Walpole throws a sloppy body shot
and Kozak counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Kozak swats away the attempt to clinch by Walpole.
Richie Walpole seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Walpole. Kozak shrugs it off though.
Walpole uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Kozak.
Walpole thows a left - swing and a miss!
Kozak ducks under a wild hook from Walpole.
Kozak scores with a punch to the head.
Walpole takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Kozak blocks the body kick.
Kozak motions for Walpole to come forward. Kozak throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Kozak lands a glancing blow to the side of Walpole's head.
Walpole chopping away at his opponent's legs.

Kozak slips under a jab.
Kozak throws a shot from downtown. Walpole moves away and avoids it.
Kozak blocks a leg kick.
Walpole throws a leg kick but Kozak sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Walpole tries to clinch there but Kozak circles away.

Walpole clinches with his opponent.
Walpole has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
A short right from Kozak on the inside.
Kozak is struggling to control the position.
Walpole misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Kozak.
Walpole has had enough of the clinch but Kozak keeps him there for the moment.
Kozak on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Walpole misses with a hook to the ribs.

Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Kozak.

Kozak dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Walpole is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Kozak is defending well for now.
Kozak pushes Walpole back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Walpole tries to pull guard but Kozak holds him up against the cage and eventually Walpole drops back down to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kozak pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Walpole looks to clinch
and Kozak counters with a straight right hand.
Kozak throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Walpole takes one on the chin but seems OK.
A low kick from Kozak is predictable there
and Walpole counters with a nice body shot.
Kozak rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Walpole moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Walpole throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Kozak misses with a looping right.
Walpole fails with an attempt to clinch.
Walpole throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Kozak throws an off balance right hand
and Walpole counters with a slapping leg kick.
Kozak swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Walpole will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Walpole misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kozak misses with a combination
and Walpole counters with a nice low kick that buckles Kozak's knee momentarily.
Kozak moves out of range of the body kick from Walpole.
Walpole lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Walpole loads up on a big right hand but Kozak slips the punch.
Walpole lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Kozak throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Walpole sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Walpole throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kozak throws a good cross that connects.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Kozak thuds his right hand into Walpole's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Walpole ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kozak moves away.
Kozak avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Richie Walpole will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Kozak connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Walpole misses with a takedown attempt - Kozak sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Walpole takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
A slow jab from Walpole misses its intended target.
Kozak avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Walpole has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Walpole there as he acknowledges the shot.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Walpole shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Walpole throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.

Walpole ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Walpole bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Walpole's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Kozak connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Walpole scrambles back to his feet.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kozak. Walpole does a little dance to reset his feet.

Walpole is looking to clinch but Kozak is avoiding it.

Kozak throws the left hand but Walpole avoids the punch easily.
Walpole falls off balance throwing a combination
and Kozak connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Kozak blocks a low kick nicely.
Walpole shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Walpole wants to slow Kozak down by chopping away at his legs.
Kozak throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Walpole ducks under a wild hook from Kozak.
Walpole connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Walpole looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Walpole moves to clinch but Kozak breaks away
and Kozak counters with a left to the body.

Walpole takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
A big right from Kozak misses.
Walpole misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Kozak.
Kozak throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Walpole throws a jab when Kozak was well out of range.
Walpole looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kozak is fending him off so far but Walpole persists. Nope, Kozak circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Richie Walpole. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kozak throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Walpole.
Walpole doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Kozak counters with a nice body shot.

Kozak paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Walpole tests Kozak's chin there with a solid looking shot.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Jan Kozak will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Walpole throws a solid leg kick but Kozak takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Walpole.

Walpole has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Kozak.
Kozak wants to slow Walpole down by chopping away at his legs.

A nice inside leg kick there by Kozak. That's going to slow Walpole down.
Kozak throws a lazy right hand but Walpole sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Kozak slaps away a takedown attempt from Walpole, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Nice uppercut lands for Kozak. That snapped Walpole's head back.

Jan Kozak is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The fighters circling - Walpole throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Walpole doesn't manage to clinch there - Kozak circles away.

Walpole clobbers Kozak with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Walpole lands a nice looking kick to the body. Kozak takes a step back to recover.

Walpole swings for the body but Kozak moves out of range.
Walpole looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Walpole walks into a stiff left hand from Kozak.
Jan Kozak seems to be getting the better of the standup.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

and Kozak counters with a nice uppercut.

and Kozak counters with a right hand to the body.
Kozak lands with an overhand left.
Walpole tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Walpole misses with a takedown attempt
letting Kozak counter with a right hand.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Walpole tries to clinch up
and Kozak counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Kozak feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Walpole's calf.
A swing and a miss from Kozak.
Walpole misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Walpole wants to clinch.
Kozak tries to work over Walpole's front leg with a kick but Walpole checks it.
Kozak has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Walpole.

Kozak works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Kozak lunges at Walpole with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Walpole's hand.
Walpole takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Walpole takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Walpole misses with a wild body shot.
Kozak connects with a good right hand that stumbles Walpole. Walpole circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Kozak throws the left hand but Walpole avoids the punch easily.
Kozak scores with a jab. Walpole acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Walpole. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Walpole wants to clinch but Kozak slips to the side
and Kozak counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Walpole is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Walpole fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kozak avoids it really well and circles away.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jan Kozak comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Kozak has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
