PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Esko Takanen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Master Blaster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blaster has chosen The Number of The Beast - Iron Maiden as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Micheangelo Fripello and Colin Fray.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Takanen throws a leg kick that misses.
Blaster uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Takanen.
Takanen feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Blaster's calf.
Blaster tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Takanen swivels and escapes.
Takanen throws a sloppy head kick and Blaster moves out of range easily.
Takanen misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Blaster is defended easily by Takanen.

Master Blaster is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Blaster fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Takanen avoids it really well and circles away.

Blaster has gone for a leg lock! Takanen slips out almost immediately though and dives into Blaster's guard.

Blaster is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Takanen slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Blaster has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Blaster is looking to regain half guard here but Takanen keeps moving and retains side control.
Takanen is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Blaster's shoulder. That is not cool.
Takanen has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Blaster is looking for a sweep.

Blaster is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Takanen off and has taken his back!

Takanen is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Blaster gets his way!

Blaster takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Blaster throws an elbow that misses. Takanen uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Blaster's guard. Nice move by Takanen!

That was a close second round but I would say that Esko Takanen will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Blaster throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Takanen's waist but Takanen gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Blaster off to one side.
Esko Takanen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Master Blaster.
Takanen buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Blaster chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Takanen can pounce on him.
Blaster takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Blaster takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Takanen scores with a decent looking hook.
No joy there for Takanen, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

A left and a right from Takanen both land. Nice combination.

Oooooh!!! Takanen has knocked Blaster down with a huge combo! Takanen steps away and waves a wobbly Blaster back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Blaster is rocked!

It looks like Master Blaster has been cut.
Blaster gets tagged by a hook that puts him to sleep! Takanen points and yells something to his unconcious foe before strutting off. Blaster wakes up just in time to hear Takanen thank his coaches in the post fight interview.
