The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pablo with a poor takedown
so Cormeir counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Pablo has his foot on Cormeir's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cormeir works his way back into a safe position though.
Cormeir stands up over Pablo, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Cormeir distracts Pablo with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Pablo has his foot on Cormeir's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cormeir works his way back into a safe position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cormeir is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Pablo pushes a forearm under Cormeir's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Cormeir is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Pablo Pablo!
A relieved looking Pablo Pablo thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
