Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jacob Reynolds ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Josh Ferguson! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Cecil Peabody and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Reynolds dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Reynolds doesn't succeed with the takedown and Ferguson counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Ferguson. Ferguson won't allow Reynolds to sweep him here. Ferguson stands up from Reynolds 's guard - Ferguson perhaps looking for a knockout. Nice takedown defense from Ferguson. No joy for Reynolds on that attempt. Reynolds fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Ferguson avoids it really well and circles away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jacob Reynolds . That's going to take a lot out of him. Reynolds tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Ferguson counters with a body kick that stops Reynolds in his tracks momentarily. Reynolds goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
It looks like Josh Ferguson has been cut. This has been an exciting period of action! Reynolds looks to clinch and Ferguson counters with a big head kick but Reynolds shrugs it off. Ferguson drives through with a takedown into guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ferguson won't allow Reynolds to sweep him here. Reynolds will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Ferguson passes easily into side control. Nice work. Ferguson lands some shots froms side control. Ferguson is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Reynolds trying to control but Ferguson flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back! Reynolds is breathing heavily. Ferguson has the hooks in. Reynolds is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ferguson has good solid back control here. Ferguson is punishing Reynolds with strikes - can he finish him?! Reynolds knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ferguson on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ferguson lands strikes to the head. Ferguson is working on the RNC. He looks like he's got it but Reynolds won't tap... Oh, he's out! The ref rips Ferguson off his unconscious opponent!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Josh Ferguson! Josh Ferguson made sure to give a little speech post fight, saying 'I new coming in he was gonna be tough. But tonight I was tougher. We need a flyweight division! Do it! Make it happen please.
