PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Aiko Oshiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hayate Takeshi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Aiko Oshiro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hayate Takeshi!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Sosuke Kotani and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Takeshi throws out a loose jab but Oshiro uses good head movement to avoid it.

Oshiro is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Takeshi's half guard.
Takeshi on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Takeshi is defending against the submission attempts here by Oshiro.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Takeshi has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Oshiro drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Takeshi dives on top into guard.
Oshiro throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Oshiro isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Takeshi stacks Oshiro on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Takeshi!
Oshiro sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Oshiro misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Takeshi blocks the strikes from Oshiro.
Takeshi wants to stand up but Oshiro manages to regain full guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Takeshi is looking to stand up but Oshiro won't let him.

Oshiro is looking for a triangle here but Takeshi uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Takeshi decides to stand up, so the ref orders Oshiro to his feet.
Oshiro moves out of range of the leg kick from Takeshi.
Oshiro fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Oshiro shoots in for a takedown but Takeshi shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Oshiro is trying hard to land a takedown here. Takeshi sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Aiko Oshiro. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Takeshi tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Takeshi swings widly with a right hand

and Oshiro counters with a shoot takedown. Takeshi fights it but they end up in guard.
Oshiro stops Takeshi from standing up.
Takeshi really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Oshiro. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Oshiro throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Takeshi works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Aiko Oshiro dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Oshiro blocks a head kick by Takeshi.
Takeshi pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Takeshi tries a head kick but it misses.
Takeshi throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Takeshi tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Oshiro gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Takeshi counters with a big head kick but Oshiro shrugs it off.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A head kick misses from Takeshi.
Takeshi throws a sloppy head kick and Oshiro moves out of range easily.
Takeshi is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Takeshi throws a head kick but Oshiro moves out of range.
Oshiro changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Takeshi tries to avoid it but Oshiro manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Takeshi to the ground. Takeshi escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Takeshi enables Oshiro to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Takeshi manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Aiko Oshiro overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Oshiro missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Oshiro might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Oshiro working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Takeshi is looking to stand up but Oshiro isn't so interested in that idea.
Oshiro could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Oshiro passes easily into side control. Nice work.
An elbow from Oshiro crashes against the mat.
Oshiro has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Takeshi manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Oshiro is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Takeshi pulls his head out easily.
Oshiro misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Oshiro avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Takeshi.
Oshiro is pressing down on Takeshi's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Oshiro throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

A close second round but Hayate Takeshi will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Takeshi tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Oshiro was well out of range. Poor timing from Takeshi.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Takeshi shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Oshiro counters with a three punch combo that has Takeshi backing up. Takeshi nods at Oshiro to acknowledge the strikes.
Takeshi pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Oshiro takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Takeshi defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Oshiro.
Nice takedown defense from Oshiro. No joy for Takeshi on that attempt.

Hayate Takeshi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Oshiro shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Takeshi as he avoids it easily.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Takeshi defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Oshiro.

Oshiro looks for a takedown but Takeshi sprawls well.
Takeshi throws a low kick but Oshiro avoids it.

And that's the end of the fight!
Hayate Takeshi comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Takeshi has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
