The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matveyev has his takedown stuffed
and Wolf counters with a nice uppercut.
Wolf throws a quick inside leg kick.
Wolf fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Matveyev shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Wolf counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Matveyev shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Wolf as he jumps to the side.
Red Wolf has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yegor Matveyev.

Matveyev drives through with a takedown into guard.
Matveyev is pushing down on Wolf's leg trying to pass to half guard. Wolf is fighting to maintain full guard but Matveyev has managed to sneak the leg through.
Wolf is concentrating on defense, preventing Matveyev from advancing position.
Wolf tries to roll over but Matveyev keeps him under control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Matveyev is pressing down on Wolf's thigh, looking to free his foot. Wolf is holding on for now.

Matveyev with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Matveyev trying to mount his opponent but Wolf defends it.
Matveyev is looking to stall here but Wolf recovers full guard.

Wolf looking for a sweep. Not yet Wolf, not yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wolf is working hard here to advance position.
Matveyev is stalling in the full guard.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Yegor Matveyev wasn't active enough on the ground.
Matveyev tries to score a power double leg takedown but Wolf sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Matveyev somewhat.

Matveyev has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Wolf.
Wolf lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Matveyev at a distance.
Red Wolf is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Wolf slaps away a takedown attempt from Matveyev, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Wolf lands a nice looking body kick.
Wolf displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Matveyev.
Wolf scores with a crisp jab that stopped Matveyev in his tracks.
Wolf feints a jab promting Matveyev to slip. Wolf then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Matveyev slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Matveyev doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Wolf counters with a body kick.

Wolf lands a jab-cross combination.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Wolf chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Wolf lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Matveyev shoots in and drives through. Wolf sprawls well.
Wolf throws a nice head kick!
Matveyev takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Wolf misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Wolf lands a head kick. Matveyev smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Matveyev is rocked!
and Wolf counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Matveyev! He's just covering up as Wolf starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!
