PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bill Boris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Six Shooter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shooter has chosen DJ Antoine - Ma Cherie as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bill Boris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Six Shooter!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Wesley Smith and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boris shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Shooter pinned against the cage. Shooter gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Boris misses with a takedown

and Shooter counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Boris!
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Shooter throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Boris managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Shooter.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shooter misses with the ground and pound.
Boris taking punishment in the form of punches.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Boris regains half guard, as Shooter was trying to land strikes.
Boris won't allow Shooter to pass to mount.

Shooter is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Boris is just riding it out for now. Shooter eventually gives up the hold.
Shooter is keen to just control but Boris is a slippery customer.

Shooter thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Boris's head.

Boris keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Shooter thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Shooter slips a nice elbow through Boris's hands, connecting with Boris's forehead.

Shooter is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Boris keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Shooter wants to pass to mount but Boris is defending the position.

Well, if Shooter is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Shooter is keen to just control but Boris is a slippery customer.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Boris connects with a body shot.
Boris closes the distance and clinches up with Shooter, looking for a takedown. Boris pushes Shooter against the cage but Shooter circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bill Boris. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Boris scores with a hook to the body. Shooter takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Shooter bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Boris's head.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Boris shoots in and drives through. Shooter sprawls well.
No luck for Boris with that takedown attempt.
Boris has his takedown stuffed
and Shooter counters with a nice uppercut.
Shooter pulls out of a head kick attempt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Shooter shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Shooter was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Boris stuck in half guard on the bottom here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Six Shooter dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Shooter misses with a takedown attempt
and Boris counters with a nice body shot.

Shooter swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Boris looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Shooter enables Boris to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Shooter manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Shooter tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Boris will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Boris trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Shooter is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Bill Boris.
Shooter misses with an uppercut. Boris saw that one coming.
Boris keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Boris changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Shooter tries to avoid it but Boris manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Shooter to the ground. Shooter escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Boris shoots in looking for a takedown. Shooter tries to sprawl out of it but Boris keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Shooter manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bill Boris. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Boris wants to clinch.

Boris dives in and scores a takedown into Shooter's guard.
Shooter keeping moving, preventing Boris from controlling successfully.

Boris drops back looking for a leg! Shooter is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Shooter manages to kick Boris off! Boris jumps back into Shooter's guard.

Boris trying to control the position from guard on top but Shooter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Shooter lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Boris!
Boris wants to control but Shooter is having none of it.

Boris wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Shooter.
Boris takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Shooter scores with a couple of good head shots there.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Boris bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Boris throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Shooter works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Shooter is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Shooter had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Boris defends it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Six Shooter will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Shooter keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Boris moves away from the strike by Shooter.
Shooter misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Shooter makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Boris really felt that one!
Boris shoots in for a double leg but Shooter sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Boris looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Shooter is trying to maintain the position but Boris is very close to passing his half guard.
Shooter landing a few short strikes.

Boris is working for a kimura but Shooter is defending it quite comfortably.
Shooter slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Shooter is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Boris is aware though and is defending well.
Shooter looking to hit a scissor sweep but Boris is one step ahead there.
Boris tries to free his leg and advance position but Shooter is retaining full guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Boris wants to control from the top but Shooter keeps moving.
Boris stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shooter swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Shooter is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Boris shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Shooter as he avoids it easily.
Shooter displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Boris.
Six Shooter is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Shooter misses with a double jab.
The fighters circling - Boris throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Boris shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Shooter defends it nicely.

Shooter shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Boris napping and manages to drive through into side control!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Shooter lands a decent elbow from side control.
Shooter wants to control for a moment but Boris uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.

Shooter is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Boris still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Boris has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!
Boris is putting a hurting on Shooter here, landing some big shots from side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Boris is trying to get an arm triangle but Shooter is defending well.
Boris lands a few punches from side control.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Bill Boris.
I think Shooter has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Six Shooter really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Resistance logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
