Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jason McDonald! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johny Naboki! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Daniel Franklin and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McDonald tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Naboki manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. McDonald shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Naboki's guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Naboki pushes McDonald off and gets back to his feet.
Naboki throws out a loose jab but McDonald uses good head movement to avoid it. Naboki should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. McDonald avoids a punch combination nicely.
McDonald fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. McDonald is breathing heavily. Good leg kick by Naboki there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Naboki throws a series of punches but McDonald avoids them all with ease. McDonald on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Naboki. Naboki obviously looking to wear him down.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! McDonald walks into a straight right hand from Naboki.
It looks like Jason McDonald has been cut. McDonald takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Naboki misses with a double jab.
Naboki has McDonald up against the cage in a clinch.
Naboki escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
That's one minute gone in the round. Naboki plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Johny Naboki is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Naboki fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt McDonald. Naboki gets a clinch. Naboki's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. A combination from Naboki does no damage. Naboki comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Naboki moves into the clinch. Naboki pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Naboki lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Naboki rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but McDonald moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Naboki thuds his shin into the meat of McDonald's side. Naboki pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces McDonald back to the cage. Naboki follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Johny Naboki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A slapping body kick lands there for Naboki. Naboki throws a sloppy head kick and McDonald moves out of range easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Good leg kick by Naboki there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Naboki lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. McDonald finds himself stumbling back on wobbly legs after being clipped by a right hand. He's up against the cage, ducking and weaving under Naboki's strikes but an uppercut finds it's way through and McDonald falls! - He's completely out of it and the ref jumps in to save him!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Johny Naboki! After winning the bout, Johny Naboki thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
