Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Seamus O Donnell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hugh Recksun (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). O Donnell comes to the cage accompanied by Fields of Athenry. Recksun has chosen Eye of the Tiger as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

21 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hugh Recksun! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! O Donnell looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Recksun wants to get back to his feet. O Donnell throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. O Donnell with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. O Donnell is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Recksun bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Recksun shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Recksun gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Recksun loads up on a big right hand but O Donnell slips the punch. Good leg kick by O Donnell there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

O Donnell gets the takedown into side control. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! O Donnell goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Recksun has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for O Donnell but great work by Recksun. Recksun in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. O Donnell has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. O Donnell takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Recksun thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! O Donnell tries to get back to half guard but can't. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Seamus O Donnell will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Hugh Recksun's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

O Donnell drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Recksun manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now O Donnell has Recksun in his guard. Recksun wants to get up but he can't break O Donnell's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

O Donnell looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. O Donnell keeping moving, preventing Recksun from controlling successfully.

We're going to have a standup here because Seamus O Donnell wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
