Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Rashad Johnson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Yenker Rian! The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Arvi Lind.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnson shoots in for a takedown but Rian shows good takedown defense. Rian shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Johnson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Johnson working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Rian. Rian stopping the sweep attempt from Johnson. Rian tries to free his leg and advance position but Johnson is retaining full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rian throwing strikes from guard but Johnson blocks nicely. Rian throwing strikes but missing. Rian lands a couple of elbows. Rian chips away with some ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rian trying to stand up but can't free himself from Johnson's guard. Johnson has his foot on Rian's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rian works his way back into a safe position though. Johnson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Rian is aware though and is defending well. Johnson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Rian wants to control from the top but Johnson keeps moving. Rian throws a sloppy strike and Johnson has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Rian is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Johnson!
