The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Boy shoots in for a double leg but Cowell sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Boy shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Cowell as he avoids it easily.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Boy wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cowell keeps working.
Boy is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Cowell is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Cowell fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Cowell swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Boy is now in Cowell's guard. A big mistake from Cowell there, giving up the dominant position!

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Boy throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Cowell's waist but Cowell gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Boy off to one side.
Boy shoots for a takedown but Cowell saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Boy really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Boy shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Cowell is trying to defend but Boy finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Skinny Boy.
