PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Stinky Pete (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Colin Booth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Stinky Pete!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Colin Booth!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Igor Prikhodko and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Booth shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Pete misses with a low kick.

Pete fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Booth sprawls well initially but Pete persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Pete looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Pete moves into full mount! Booth won't be happy about that!
Pete lands a nice shot to the head.
Booth manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Pete throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Booth to regain full guard.
Pete stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Booth swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Pete slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Booth manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Pete is pressing down on Booth's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Booth pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Pete is keeping the position for now.

Pete is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Booth is aware though and is defending well.
Booth preventing the sweep.
Pete not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Booth drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Booth jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Booth stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pete swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Booth postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Pete is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Booth, into his guard.
Booth keeping moving, preventing Pete from controlling successfully.
Pete stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Booth swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Booth has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pete can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Booth lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Pete!

Booth goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Pete turns into him and now he's in Booth's guard.
Pete wants to stand and escape but instead Booth has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Booth advances position into side control!

Booth is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Pete knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Pete manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Stinky Pete will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Pete throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Booth just misses with a punch to the body.

Pete closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Pete has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Booth clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Booth is keeping busy.
Pete lands a punch to the side of the head from the back.
Booth tries to escape but Pete has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

Pete is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Booth is defending well though. Pete let's go of the attempt for now.
Pete keeps control of the position as Booth tries to break free.

Pete is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Booth knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Booth for a finish.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Pete's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Booth rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Booth is pressing down on Pete's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pete wants to control from the top but Booth keeps moving.
Pete seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Booth had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Pete defends it easily.
Pete trying to control but Booth is working from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Booth looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Pete slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

We're going to have a standup here because Stinky Pete wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Booth throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Booth throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Pete keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Booth wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Booth enables Pete to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Booth manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Booth preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Pete trying to control the position from guard on top but Booth is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Booth manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pete manages to get himself to full guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Booth pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Pete is keeping the position for now.
Pete is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stinky Pete dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Booth scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Pete ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Pete keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Stinky Pete is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A slow jab from Booth misses its intended target.
Booth misses with a takedown attempt - Pete sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Pete moves into the clinch successfully.

Pete breaks from the clinch.
Pete tries to clinch but Booth moves out of range.
Pete's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Booth connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Pete scrambles back to his feet.
Pete tries to clinch up but Booth circles away and keeps his distance.
Pete looking to land some kicks to the body here.

Pete changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Booth looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Booth tries to bench press Pete off him but Pete keeps the position.
Sloppy strikes there by Pete.
Booth is not content to let Pete control the position.
Booth manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Colin Booth has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Booth is staying active underneath Pete, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Pete perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Stinky Pete.

Booth gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Pete to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Pete looking to sit in guard and control but Booth gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Booth trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Booth pushes down on Pete's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Booth is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Pete doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Booth.
Pete wants to control but Booth is keeping busy and won't allow it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Pete gets back to full guard.
Booth stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pete swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Booth stands and throws Pete's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Pete manages to work his way to half guard, despite Booth's best efforts.
Stinky Pete is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Booth is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

And that's the end of the fight!
Stinky Pete showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Pete, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
