Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Wei Sun! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Paul Meyer! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Gregory Folan and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Meyer looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Sun is fending him off so far but Meyer persists. Nope, Sun circles away and we're back to standing. Meyer has a takedown stuffed. Sun is looking to clinch. Meyer will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Wei Sun has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paul Meyer. Meyer closes this distance looking for a takedown but Sun circles away. Meyer shoots in but Sun avoids the takedown attempt easily. Sun tries to clinch up and Meyer counters with a nice double leg into guard. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Sun looking to hit a scissor sweep but Meyer is one step ahead there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sun is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Sun utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Meyer wants to work for an arm triangle but Sun is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Maybe Sun would be better served going for some more strikes rather than trying to control so much. Sun prevents a takedown attempt there.

Meyer passes easily into side control. Nice work. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Meyer swings around for an armbar but Sun sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Meyer's guard. Sun gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Sun keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

That was a close second round but I would say that Wei Sun will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
