Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Demetrius Katzenmaier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Colby Veenman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Katzenmaier comes to the cage accompanied by misssissippi queen. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Demetrius Katzenmaier! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Colby Veenman! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Eliza Hachem and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Veenman throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Katzenmaier's head. Katzenmaier ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Veenman moves away. Horrible takedown by Katzenmaier or perhaps it was just good defense by Veenman which made him look bad. A nice inside leg kick there by Katzenmaier. That's going to slow Veenman down. Katzenmaier shoots in but Veenman avoids the takedown attempt easily. Katzenmaier tries for a takedown but Veenman sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Demetrius Katzenmaier. That's going to take a lot out of him. Katzenmaier tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. A head kick from Katzenmaier lands but Veenman takes it in his stride. The fight moves into the clinch position. Veenman jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Katzenmaier walks away with a smile on his face. Veenman gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Veenman closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Katzenmaier to the mat! Katzenmaier manages to get full guard. Veenman must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Katzenmaier bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Veenman's guard. Veenman is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's one minute gone in the round. Veenman working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Katzenmaier has passed into half guard!

Katzenmaier wants to take a breather but Veenman is having none of it. Veenman wants to control but Katzenmaier is keeping busy.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Demetrius Katzenmaier just wasn't active enough. Katzenmaier gets tackled into the cage by Veenman. Veenman maintains the clinch. Veenman wants to get back to striking at distance but Katzenmaier won't allow it.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Veenman tries to land knees in the clinch but Katzenmaier avoids the damage to the body. Veenman has Katzenmaier pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Veenman pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Katzenmaier tumbling to the mat - Veenman dives into Katzenmaier's guard. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Veenman working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Katzenmaier looking to control.

Katzenmaier gets a clinch. Veenman has Katzenmaier pressed against the cage, preventing Katzenmaier from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Veenman fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Katzenmaier fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Katzenmaier lands with a slapping head kick. Veenman tries to clinch up. Veenman stuffs the takedown. Veenman shoots in but Katzenmaier avoids the takedown attempt easily. Veenman closes the distance and lands a one-two.
That's one minute gone in the round. Katzenmaier shoots in and drives through. Veenman sprawls well. Veenman misses with an attempted mid kick.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Katzenmaier. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Demetrius Katzenmaier. That's going to take a lot out of him. Katzenmaier gets caught flat footed, as Veenman shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Katzenmaier thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Katzenmaier looking to hit a scissor sweep but Veenman is one step ahead there. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Veenman looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Veenman wants to control from the top but Katzenmaier keeps moving.

Colby Veenman has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Veenman tries to clinch up but Katzenmaier circles away and keeps his distance. Katzenmaier throws a head kick but Veenman moves out of range.
Veenman throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Katzenmaier is defended easily by Veenman. Veenman fails with the takedown.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Katzenmaier with a poor takedown and Veenman counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Veenman. Veenman controlling from the top position. Katzenmaier looking for subs off his back but Veenman has passed one foot through into half guard.
Katzenmaier looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Veenman looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Katzenmaier with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Veenman performing his best blanket impression for a moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Katzenmaier is looking to control Veenman's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Katzenmaier avoid being mounted? Katzenmaier is trying to get back to full guard. Katzenmaier trying to get back to full guard but Veenman takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Veenman can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Katzenmaier is looking to escape. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Colby Veenman showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Veenman is pushing Katzenmaier up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Veenman has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Katzenmaier is trying to keep an underhook but Veenman manages to get the takedown into half guard. Veenman is thwarting Katzenmaier's attempts to control the position. Veenman blocks the strikes from Katzenmaier.
That's one minute gone in the round. Katzenmaier looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Veenman is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Katzenmaier doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Veenman. Veenman is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Katzenmaier wants to control but Veenman is keeping busy and won't allow it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Veenman is trying to control. Katzenmaier wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Katzenmaier has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Veenman is working away from the top position though. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Katzenmaier slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Veenman won't allow Katzenmaier to sweep him here. Katzenmaier is trying to keep Veenman in close.
Veenman stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Katzenmaier swivels though and keeps the full guard. Veenman thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Veenman looking to sit in guard and control but Katzenmaier gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Katzenmaier has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Veenman is proving hard to escape from. Veenman has his foot on Katzenmaier's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Katzenmaier works his way back into a safe position though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Katzenmaier advances position into side control! Katzenmaier remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Veenman is trying to improve his position. Katzenmaier is trying to get an arm triangle but Veenman is defending well.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Demetrius Katzenmaier. I think Veenman has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
