The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mendes gets a clinch.

Mendes has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Khoury is trying to keep an underhook but Mendes manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Mendes is working for a submission of some sort.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Mendes is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Khoury is just riding it out for now. Mendes eventually gives up the hold.

Mendes is looking for a kimura here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Khoury trying to hold on to Mendes's head to control him but Mendes postures up.
Mendes wants to control but Khoury is keeping him busy.
Khoury regains full guard. Nicely done.

Khoury controls Mendes momentarily but Mendes frees himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Khoury is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Khoury looking for a triangle here. Mendes is fighting it but it looks tight! Khoury pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Mendes is tapping out - this one is all over!
