The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, William Peck and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Refn.
Matthews throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Matthews swings for the body but Refn moves out of range.
Refn circles away from the clinch attempt
and Refn counters with a single leg into guard. Matthews didn't expect that.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Nicolas Refn hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Refn closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Matthews's guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Matthews just misses with a elbow thrown towards Refn's brow.
Matthews lands a hook to the side of the head.
Refn's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Refn changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Matthews looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Matthews is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Refn has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Refn throws an elbow but Matthews slips to the side and avoids it well.
Check out the look on Refn's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Refn shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Matthews sprawls well. Matthews wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Refn gets slowly back to his feet.

Nicolas Refn has got the better of the ground game so far.
Matthews is trying to improve his position.
Refn is looking to take a break and control but Matthews is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Refn has an Americana. Matthews didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Refn is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Refn hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
