Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jon Eliott! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tommy Conlon! The judges for this bout are James Glass, Colin Fotheringham and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Conlon tries to sprawl but Eliott drives through with a takedown into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Eliott frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Eliott has control of Conlon's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Conlon regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Eliott is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Conlon has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Conlon tries to hold on but Eliott pushes him away. Conlon really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Eliott. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Eliott throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Eliott swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Conlon is now in Eliott's guard. A big mistake from Eliott there, giving up the dominant position! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Conlon stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Eliott swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Conlon wants to stand but Eliott is controlling his posture from full guard. Eliott looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Eliott looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Conlon is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Eliott pushes a forearm under Conlon's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Conlon is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
