Williams has chosen Big Bad Wolf by Duck Sauce as his entrance music. Devon James had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Devon James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, David Williams!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Steve Erwin and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Williams does it's job there.
Williams swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Williams tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but James was well out of range. Poor timing from Williams.
James ducks under a wild hook from Williams.
Williams lands a really nice looking cross but James seems unphased.
James circles away from the clinch attempt.
Williams has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.


It looks like David Williams has been cut.
James takes one on the button.
Williams swinging wildly here.
Williams cracks a nice hook into James's ribs.

James rushes Williams and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

James is working for a kimura but Williams is defending it quite comfortably.
Williams is refusing to be controlled, as James sits in half guard.

James is keen to just control but Williams is a slippery customer.

James throws a leg kick which misses Williams's front leg but catches the back leg as Williams tries to avoid it.
James walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
A slapping leg kick lands for Williams.
A telegraphed right hand from Williams misses the target.
Williams misses with a right hand
and James counters with a right hand to the body.
Williams works the jab nicely.
Williams shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has James pinned against the cage. James gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
James blocks a jab.
A slow jab from Williams misses its intended target.
James lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Williams circles away quickly and effectively.
Nice body punch from Williams.
James defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Williams.
Devon James is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Williams misses with a lunging right hand
and James counters with a straight right hand.

Williams works James's body with a nice hook.
James takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
James misses with a jab, cross combination.
Devon James is winning the standup battle so far.
Williams slips a straight right by James.
James throws a head kick that half lands.
Williams fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
James uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Williams.
Williams takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Williams fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Williams connects with a single shot there.
Williams shoots in for a takedown but James shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Devon James has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Williams.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Williams thows a body shot but no joy.
Williams fails with a takedown attempt.
Williams is breathing heavily.

James will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Williams throws a sloppy head kick and James moves out of range easily.
Williams throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
James avoids a punch combination nicely.
James is looking to slow Williams down with leg kicks.
Williams tries to score a power double leg takedown but James sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Williams somewhat.

James drives through and clinches with Williams against the cage.

James pulls guard effortlessly.
James lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Williams!
James connects with a couple of good shots from mount.


That has opened up David Williams's cut even more.
James pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
James in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
James lands a nice shot to the head.


The cut above David Williams's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

Williams tries to hold on but James pushes him away.
Williams is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but James is staying active.
James looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.

David Williams's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at David Williams's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
