Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rick Ashton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ashton comes to the cage accompanied by Lynyrd Skynyrd - Simple Man. Matt Carter told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Matt Carter!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ashton closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Carter quickly recovers to half guard.
Ashton seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Carter preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Ashton sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Carter defending well though.
Ashton is looking for a kimura but Carter is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Ashton to get the leverage.
Ashton throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Carter to regain full guard.
Carter wants to get back to his feet but Ashton is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Ashton cracks Carter with a solid left hand.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Carter wants to get back to his feet but Ashton passes into half guard.
Ashton is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Ashton has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Carter defend it? Ashton steps over the head and cranks it - Carter is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Ashton!
