Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marcelo Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Suporn Red Gym (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Red Gym has chosen It's a long road as his entrance music. Marcelo Alves could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Suporn Red Gym's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Marcelo Alves! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
20 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Suporn Red Gym! The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, John Mangel and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Red Gym swats away the attempt to clinch by Alves. Red Gym fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Alves sprawls well initially but Red Gym persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Alves is looking for a sweep. Red Gym is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Red Gym wants to pass the guard but Alves is defending well. Red Gym throwing shots but Alves is blocking nicely. Alves tries to get to full guard but Red Gym has control of the leg. Red Gym not landing any meaningful shots this time. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Alves keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Red Gym takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Alves gets full guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Red Gym lands a couple of decent looking shots. Alves has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Red Gym can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Red Gym with a nice head shot there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Red Gym cracks Alves with a solid left hand. Alves throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Red Gym accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Red Gym wants to pass the guard but Alves is keeping the position. Red Gym stands up over Alves, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Alves lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Red Gym! Red Gym can't escape the position.
Alves throws a wild left hand from mount and Red Gym manages to wriggle his way back to half guard. Red Gym trying to control here.
Red Gym wants to get back to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Red Gym is holding on to half guard well. This has been an exciting period of action! Alves missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Alves trying to control from Red Gym's half guard. Red Gym has other ideas though and has regained full guard. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Red Gym holds on and takes a little breather. Alves stopping the sweep attempt from Red Gym. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Red Gym is on top in guard.
Red Gym in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Red Gym working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alves trying to control the position.
Red Gym postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Red Gym stands up over Alves, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Alves working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Red Gym doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Red Gym manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Red Gym with a nice head shot there. Alves has momentary wrist control but Red Gym slips an elbow through the middle. Alves wants to sweep but no luck. Alves is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Red Gym is aware though and is defending well. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Red Gym is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Alves looking for a guillotine here but Red Gym defends easily.
Alves is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Red Gym landing some decent shots from guard. Alves tries to land a sweep but no joy. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Red Gym with a nice head shot there. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Suporn Red Gym dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Red Gym dives in and scores a takedown into Alves's guard. Alves looking for a guillotine here but Red Gym defends easily.
Red Gym must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Red Gym scoring with punches to the head and body. Red Gym connects with a couple of short punches. Red Gym chips away with some ground and pound. Red Gym working some strikes from top position. Alves throws his legs up looking for a submission but Red Gym uses it to pass to side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Check out the look on Red Gym's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Alves pushes Red Gym away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Red Gym gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Red Gym works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Red Gym working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Red Gym cracks Alves with a big right hand but Alves just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Red Gym lands a decent elbow from side control. Alves is looking to regain half guard here but Red Gym keeps moving and retains side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Red Gym lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Alves down.
Alves is rocked! Red Gym working the ground and pound. Red Gym is working Alves over with some ground and pound from side control. Oh Alves is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
It looks like Marcelo Alves has been cut. Alves tries to buck Red Gym off but Red Gym is having none of it. Red Gym cracks Alves with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Red Gym immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Alves is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Red Gym!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Suporn Red Gym! Suporn Red Gym is the new middleweight champion! Suporn Red Gym decided to call for a title shot in his post fight interview, which was very strange given the fact this fight was for a title and he's already the champion. I guess that's what getting punched in the head does for you.
