Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jacob Richards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Damien Maia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Damien Maia told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Ivan Kurochkin and Dmitry Maklakov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Richards takes a swing at Maia's ribcage but misses.
Maia clinches with his opponent.
Maia drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Richards gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Maia pulls Richards into guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Richards's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Maia is looking for a triangle but Richards pushes his legs off easily.
Richards has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Richards postures up in Maia's guard and throws a big left but Maia blocks it.
Richards got a little sloppy there for a moment and Maia has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Richards has managed to get both his arms back between Maia's legs - danger averted.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Maia has the hooks in. Richards is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Richards is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Maia's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Maia's back!
Maia just trying to survive but Richards is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

Maia manages to get to his feet, escaping the difficult position.
Richards shoots in looking for a takedown but Maia manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Richards's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Maia walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Richards checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Richards shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Maia defends it nicely.

and Maia counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Richards is lucky that one didn't land flush.

That's time! Richards's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Richards bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Richards is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Maia is just riding it out for now. Richards eventually gives up the hold.

Richards thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Maia's head.

Maia has hold of Richards's hands but Richards slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Maia is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Maia lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Richards!
Richards tries to hold on but Maia pushes him away.
Richards knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Maia on the ground.

Richards is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
You can see the frustration on Richards's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jacob Richards will probably get the nod.

Richards shoots in looking for a takedown but Maia manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Richards's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Maia rushes Richards and presses him up against the cage.
Maia just leaning against Richards, taking a breather.
Maia pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Maia lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Maia pushes Richards up against the cage in a clinch.
Richards is trying to drag Maia to the mat but Maia just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Richards wants a takedown but no success here.
Maia gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Richards.
Maia stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
A head punch on the inside from Maia fails to land.
Richards works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Richards might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Richards is sitting in close to Maia's body. Maia has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Richards is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Richards is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Maia.
