Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jason Elgin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kyo Kimura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jason Elgin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kyo Kimura!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Micheangelo Fripello and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Elgin shoots in and bounces Kimura off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Elgin tries to stand but Kimura is controlling from the bottom.

Elgin stands and steps away. Kimura gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Kimura misses with a head kick.

Kimura gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Elgin is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Elgin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kimura swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Elgin stands and steps away. Kimura gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Kimura misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

and Elgin counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Kyo Kimura seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kimura throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Elgin loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Elgin's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Kimura throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Elgin shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Elgin is trying to work for a kimura but Kimura is defending well.
Kimura is in trouble now - Elgin has advanced to mount!

Elgin controlling the position easily from mount.
Elgin seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Kimura for as long as he can get away with.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Elgin pushes Kimura up against the cage in a clinch.

Elgin has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Kimura regains guard immediately.
Elgin slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Elgin could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Kimura is looking to stand back up but Elgin counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Kimura.
Elgin thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kimura's head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Elgin content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Jason Elgin just wasn't active enough.

Elgin closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Elgin wants to control but Kimura is keeping him busy.

Elgin is working for a submission of some sort.
Elgin keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Jason Elgin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Jason Elgin just wasn't active enough.
Kimura throws a lazy head kick

and Elgin decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kimura's guard.
Elgin passes into half guard.

Elgin decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Kyo Kimura is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Kimura is breathing heavily.
Elgin fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Elgin rushes Kimura and presses him up against the cage.

Elgin has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Kimura clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Elgin slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Elgin's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

and Elgin counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Elgin decides to stand and escape the position.

Elgin pushes Kimura up against the cage in a clinch.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Elgin takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Kimura is looking to break free of the clinch but Elgin has double underhooks.

Elgin has hold of one of Kimura's legs. Kimura is fighting the takedown attempt but Elgin gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Elgin drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Kimura dives on top into guard.
Elgin on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Elgin tries to get out of the position.

Elgin has his foot on Kimura's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kimura works his way back into a safe position though.

Kimura keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Elgin's head.

Elgin controls Kimura momentarily but Kimura frees himself.

Elgin has Kimura pulled in close to control his posture.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Jason Elgin just wasn't active enough.

and Elgin counters with a stiff right hand.
Kimura takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Elgin darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kimura is not content to let Elgin control the position.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Kimura tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Kimura has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Elgin.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Elgin shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Kimura is trying to defend but Elgin finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Elgin looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jason Elgin showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Elgin has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
