Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Juan Gonzalez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Omori (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Juan Gonzalez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Paul Omori!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Gonzalez or perhaps it was just good defense by Omori which made him look bad.
Omori shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Gonzalez as he avoids it easily.
Gonzalez displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.

Gonzalez closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Gonzalez is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Omori tries to hold on but Gonzalez pushes him away.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Gonzalez postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Omori looks a forlorn figure.

Gonzalez has control of Omori's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Omori regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Omori is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Omori tries to lock up and control but Gonzalez gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Juan Gonzalez overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Omori has hold of Gonzalez's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Gonzalez tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Omori cranks the arm and Gonzalez screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Gonzalez, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
