The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rourke with a body punch. A glancing blow. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Lazer. Rourke tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Lazer swivels and escapes. Rourke ducks under a wild hook from Lazer. Rourke swinging wildly here.
Rourke shoots in looking for a takedown. Lazer tries to sprawl out of it but Rourke keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lazer manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Rourke with a lazy takedown attempt and Lazer counters with a single leg into guard. Rourke didn't expect that. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sam Rourke. That's going to take a lot out of him. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Rourke looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Lazer passes into half guard.
Rourke looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Lazer scoring with strikes to the body and head. Rourke manages to get to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lazer passes Rourke's left leg - he's now in half guard. Lazer is trying to control. Rourke wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Lazer keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Rourke might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Lazer tries to pass the half guard into mount. Rourke knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Lazer working Rourke over with strikes. Lazer wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rourke keeps working. Rourke tries to roll over but Lazer keeps him under control. Lazer is looking to take a break and control but Rourke is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rourke blocking the ground and pound attempt from Lazer. Lazer stalling. Lazer working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Rourke tries to get to full guard but Lazer has control of the leg. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Lazer is trying to control the action in half guard but Rourke is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Lazer wants to pass the guard but Rourke is defending well. Rourke looks like he's trying to stand up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lazer tries to pass to full mount but Rourke defends it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lazer drops an elbow to the side of Rourke's head. Lazer missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Lazer looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Lazer wants to control but Rourke is keeping him busy. Lazer is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Rourke is just riding it out for now. Lazer eventually gives up the hold. Lazer is looking to take a break and control but Rourke is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rourke throws a sloppy strike from the bottom. He's now off balance and Lazer manages to pass to side control. Lazer scores with a couple of short elbows. Lazer trying to control the action but Rourke is working from the bottom. Rourke manages to get back to half guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Rourke has one foot on Lazer's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Rourke shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Lazer defends it nicely. Rourke looks for a takedown but Lazer sprawls well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Major Lazer dominated that round. That's time! Rourke's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Lazer tries for a takedown but Rourke sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Good standup being displayed there by Rourke as he connects with a hook. Lazer shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Lazer is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Rourke is trying desperately to improve position. Rourke trying desperately to get to his feet.
Lazer in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Rourke regains half guard. Rourke is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Lazer pulls his head out easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lazer is trying to control. Rourke wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Rourke tries to roll over but Lazer keeps him under control. Lazer moves nicely into side control. Lazer landing a few strikes. Lazer controlling the position. Rourke is looking for a sweep. Lazer laying and praying for a moment but Rourke takes advantage and regains half guard. Lazer trying to control from half guard but Rourke is working away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rourke has hold of Lazer's hands but Lazer slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Rourke looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Lazer working Rourke over with strikes. Lazer looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Rourke wants to improve his position but Lazer is controlling well.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Rourke tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Lazer is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Lazer working Rourke over with strikes here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rourke is in a horrible position here. Lazer smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Lazer can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Rourke is looking to escape. Lazer lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Rourke is wriggling around trying to escape.
Lazer scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Lazer lands a heavy elbow. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Lazer with a couple of short strikes.
Rourke is rocked! Lazer looking to control but Rourke is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Rourke is looking to improve his position but Lazer isn't that keen on the idea.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lazer connects with a bit shot that sees Rourke covering up! More strikes from Lazer and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Lazer is our winner by TKO!
