0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ray Marsh! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Frank Dennis and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Souza shoots in looking for a takedown but Marsh manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Souza's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Horrible takedown by Marsh or perhaps it was just good defense by Souza which made him look bad. Good exchange - Souza coming out on top. Souza wants to clinch. Souza moves into range and connects with a jab. Marsh tries to clinch there but Souza circles away.
Souza closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Marsh's guard. Souza slips nicely into half guard. Marsh wants to get back to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Souza prevents Marsh from standing back up.
Souza looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Souza wants to work for an arm triangle but Marsh is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Souza is stalling here. Marsh is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Souza seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Marsh has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Souza manages to get back to half guard. That's two minutes gone in the round. Marsh tries to stand but his arm is trapped. The fighters are battling for position here. Souza manages to regain full guard. Nice work. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Marsh postures up.
Souza had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Marsh defends it easily. Marsh stopping the sweep attempt from Souza. Souza is breathing heavily. Marsh thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Marsh has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Souza is proving hard to escape from. Marsh postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Marsh trying to stand up but can't free himself from Souza's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Souza not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Souza is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Marsh wants to get up but he can't break Souza's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. This has been an exciting period of action! Marsh is sitting in close to Souza's body. Souza has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Marsh is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Marsh is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Souza.
