Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Joey Reid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Abu Zayd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Joey Reid! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Abu Zayd! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Mauricio Rocha and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Reid stuffs the takedown attempt from Zayd. Zayd gets slowly back to his feet. Zayd fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Reid sprawls well initially but Zayd persists and gets the takedown into half guard. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Zayd is controlling the pace.
Reid looking for submissions off his back. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Zayd in particular looking to stall.
That's one minute gone in the round. Reid is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Zayd pulls his head out easily. Zayd lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Zayd works his way into side control. Reid is looking to reverse the position. Zayd has knee on belly and moves into mount. Zayd lands a big shot there that rocks Reid but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Reid regains half guard. Zayd is taking a breather. Reid says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Zayd wants to free his trapped foot but Reid is holding on for dear life with his legs. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Zayd looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Reid really is a fat lump. Reid looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Zayd landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Zayd is working for a submission of some sort.
Zayd wants to take a breather but Reid is having none of it. Zayd frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Reid might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Zayd cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Reid tries to reverse the position but Zayd maintains control. Zayd moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Reid has worked his arm free - good work by Reid!
Zayd is staying tight to Reid's torso, preventing him from escaping. Zayd works to advance to full mount. Reid defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Abu Zayd dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Reid drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Abu Zayd has got the better of the ground game so far. Zayd can't do much from the bottom here. Reid swings around for an armbar but Zayd sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Reid's guard. Reid keeping full guard, as Zayd tries to pass. Zayd got a little sloppy there for a moment and Reid has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Zayd has managed to get both his arms back between Reid's legs - danger averted. Zayd landing some decent shots from guard. Zayd controls from within his opponent's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Zayd trying to control but Reid is working from the bottom. Zayd controls the pace of the fight for a moment. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Zayd trying to control but Reid is working from the bottom. Reid working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Zayd doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Zayd manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Zayd is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Abu Zayd was stalling too much, according to the referee. Zayd closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Reid quickly recovers to half guard. Reid tries to get to full guard but Zayd has control of the leg. Zayd works his way into full mount! Zayd raining down hammerfists from mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Zayd landing strikes from the mount and Reid is in trouble! Zayd postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Reid looks a forlorn figure.
It looks like Joey Reid has been cut. Zayd pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Zayd sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Let's hope that Zayd has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Zayd postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Reid looks a forlorn figure.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Reid is in all sorts of trouble here.
Zayd working away from the top, dropping strikes. Zayd landing shots from mount. Zayd tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Reid can't escape the position.

Abu Zayd showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Joey Reid's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Zayd shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Zayd was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Reid is being controlled here. Zayd scoring with punches from side control. Reid takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Zayd cracks Reid with a big elbow. Zayd taking a break here but Reid is having none of it and regains half guard. Reid wants to improve his position but Zayd is controlling well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Zayd is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Joey Reid has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Abu Zayd hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Zayd shoots in but no luck this time. Zayd will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Reid feints and as Zayd raises his hands in defense, Reid changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Reid postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Reid postures up.
Reid stands and throws Zayd's legs to the side, diving into side control. Reid working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Zayd tries to buck Reid off but Reid is having none of it. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Reid is trying to get an arm triangle but Zayd is defending well. Zayd gets back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Zayd is trying to maintain the position but Reid is very close to passing his half guard. Zayd wants to get back to full guard. Zayd keeps control of the position for the meantime. Zayd has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Reid is looking for a kimura here.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Zayd tries to roll over but Reid keeps him under control. Reid seems to be looking for submissions.
Zayd regains full guard. Nicely done. Zayd is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Reid is aware though and is defending well. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Zayd pulls Reid in close to his closed guard and prevents Reid from doing any damage or advancing position. Reid missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Abu Zayd comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Zayd has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
