Watts comes to the cage accompanied by Xxplosive. Dennis Oppelaar will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from Watts does no damage.
Watts throws a big shot that misses.
Watts misses with a straight right.
Oppelaar misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Oppelaar misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Watts fails to land with a series of punches.
Watts is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Oppelaar.
Watts misses with a hook

and Oppelaar holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Watts lands a left hand.
Watts swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Oppelaar gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Oppelaar is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Oppelaar seems to be working for a kimura but Watts defends the submission attempt.

Oppelaar perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Oppelaar is keen to just control but Watts is a slippery customer.
Watts is trying to control but can't.
Oppelaar is just content to waste time from the top position. Watts takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Watts has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Watts keeping moving, preventing Oppelaar from controlling successfully.

Oppelaar throws a strike but Watts rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Oppelaar is controlling Watts's posture.
Watts has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Oppelaar is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Oppelaar has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Watts fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Oppelaar avoids it really well and circles away.
Oppelaar swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Oppelaar misses with a jab, cross combination.
Watts has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Watts there as he acknowledges the shot.
Oppelaar smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Watts backs away from a small jab... but Oppelaar lunges forward with a huge superman punch! Watts crumples to the ground as his mouth piece is sent flying! Oppelaar with a spectacular finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Superman Punch). Dennis Oppelaar!
