Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ping Pong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Micheal White!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Sosuke Kotani and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pong throws a hook but White blocks it.
White is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Pong thuds his right hand into White's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
White scores with a nice body kick.
White tries to move into range but Pong moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
White misses with a series of wild punches.
Pong waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract White.
Pong pulls out of a head kick attempt.
White drives through and clinches with Pong against the ropes.
White lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
A nice left hand lands by White.
White avoiding damage as Pong throws knees to the body.
White blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
White lands a body shot in the clinch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Pong dodges an elbow strike from White.
White lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
A short right from White on the inside.
White lands with a light punch inside.
White misses with an elbow over the top.
White creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Pong's defenses.
White lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Pong blocks an elbow strike from White.
Pong using the Thai plumb to throw knees but White has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
White scores with an uppercut up the middle.
White lands a left hand.
Pong is rocked!
Pong tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Oh Pong is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
White lands a shoulder strike.
White lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
White lands a left hand that snaps the head of Pong backwards.
White cracks Pong with a big elbow, right in the eye socket! Pong drops to his knees in obvious pain! The referee starts the count but it's plainly obvious that Pong isn't going to get back to his feet. The referee counts none the less and White struts around the mat, safe in the knowledge that this one is over. A big win for White!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Elbows). Micheal White!
