PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Omar Little (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Regis Lobo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Omar Little!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Regis Lobo!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Little swinging wilding here.
Little connects with a jab.
Lobo throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Little's waist but Little gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lobo off to one side.
Little misses with a hook. Lobo ducked under it nicely.
Little tries to bum rush Lobo with a series of wild strikes but Lobo uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Lobo gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Lobo jumps guard and drags Little to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Lobo working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Little doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Little manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Little gets to his feet - Lobo follows without any prompting.

Little throws a right and a left that Lobo avoids nicely.

Lobo wants to pass the guard but Little is defending well.

Lobo is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Little defends it well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Lobo is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Little is just riding it out for now. Lobo eventually gives up the hold.

Lobo is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Little defends it well.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Little throws a lazy head kick

and Lobo counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Little is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Little has his foot on Lobo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lobo works his way back into a safe position though.

Lobo lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Little had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Lobo is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Little Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Lobo's back instead.

Little is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Lobo defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Lobo just trying to survive but Little is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

Little has the hooks in. Lobo is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Lobo tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Little throws a right and a left that Lobo avoids nicely.

Little misses with a jab, cross combination.

Lobo takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.


Lobo is rocked!
No joy there for Little, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Lobo is still on wobbly legs! Can Little finish him?
Little fails with the takedown.
Little fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Little throws a half hearted mid kick.
Lobo seems to have recovered his senses.

Lobo drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Lobo tries to advance to mount but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Regis Lobo will probably get the nod.
That's time! Little's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Lobo circles away from the clinch attempt.
Little lands a with a good body shot.
Little lands a slapping body shot.
Little throws a chopping leg kick but Lobo manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Lobo tries to pass to full mount but Little defends it.
Little tries to roll over but Lobo keeps him under control.
Little is looking to escape.
Regis Lobo has got the better of the ground game so far.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Lobo in particular looking to stall.
Little makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Little.
Little preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Lobo manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Little manages to get himself to full guard.

Lobo drops back looking for a leg! Little is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Little manages to kick Lobo off! Lobo jumps back into Little's guard.

Little is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Little regains half guard.
Little punching from the bottom.

Lobo is looking for a kimura but Little is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Lobo to get the leverage.

Little pushes Lobo off and gets back to his feet.
Little throws a sloppy head kick and Lobo moves out of range easily.
Little fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Lobo checks a leg kick.
Little swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Little scores with a one two! Lobo had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Omar Little dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Little misses with a wild combination.
Lobo moves out of range of the body kick from Little.

Lobo closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Lobo tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Lobo has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Little wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Lobo is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Little knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Little explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

Lobo lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Lobo is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Lobo has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Little defend it? Lobo steps over the head and cranks it - Little is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Lobo!
