PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tom Stroud (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Flo Tinaway (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stroud comes to the cage accompanied by Vallenfyre - Iconoclast. Tinaway has chosen Sonic Boom Six - Floating Away as his entrance music. Flo Tinaway struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 156.2lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Tom Stroud!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Flo Tinaway!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Richard Clark and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Stroud takes the fight into the clinch.
Tinaway is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Stroud to keep the fight standing.

Stroud manages to break the clinch.
Tinaway closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Stroud lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Stroud.


It looks like Flo Tinaway has been cut.
Tinaway slips a jab and a cross from Stroud.
Tom Stroud seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stroud throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Stroud misses with the combination.
Stroud lands a nice hook to Tinaway's body. Tinaway takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Stroud throws an overhand right that lands on Tinaway's shoulder, as Tinaway tries to avoid the shot.
Stroud misses the shot to the body.
Some wild striking there from Stroud.
Stroud will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Tinaway fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Tinaway checks a leg kick.
Nice jab there from Stroud.
Stroud misses with a two punch combination.

Stroud fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Tinaway to the ground. Stroud is now in Tinaway's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Stroud gets to his feet. Tinaway looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Tinaway misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Stroud misses with a jab, cross combination.
Stroud swinging wildly here.
Tinaway has his takedown stuffed
and Stroud cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Tom Stroud has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Flo Tinaway.

Stroud fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Tinaway throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Stroud was covering up waiting for the punch and Tinaway finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Tinaway slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Tinaway tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Tinaway is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Stroud has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Stroud sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Tinaway trying to control from half guard but Stroud is working away.

Tinaway is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Stroud sees it coming and defends easily.
Stroud is in trouble now - Tinaway has advanced to mount!
Tinaway wants to control the action but instead Stroud gets a body lock and reverses into Tinaway's guard! Nice work!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Tinaway is on top in guard.
Stroud has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Stroud wants to sweep but no luck.
Tinaway passes into half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Stroud wants to control but Tinaway is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Tinaway is trying to work for a kimura but Stroud is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tom Stroud dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Flo Tinaway's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Stroud shoots and misses

and Tinaway counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Tinaway passes Stroud's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Tinaway is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Tinaway passes to side control.

Tinaway is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Stroud knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Tinaway tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Tinaway has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Stroud is not content to let Tinaway control the position.

Tinaway goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Stroud rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Tinaway's guard! Nice work there by Stroud!

Stroud chips away with some ground and pound.
Tinaway looking for a sweep. Not yet Tinaway, not yet.

Tinaway trying to control but Stroud is working from the bottom.
Stroud is trying to keep Tinaway in close.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Stroud connects with a solid leg kick.
Stroud scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Stroud rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Tinaway moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Good exchange - Stroud coming out on top.

Stroud misses with an uppercut.
Stroud lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Tinaway shoots in for a takedown but Stroud shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Stroud tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Tinaway was well out of range. Poor timing from Stroud.
Stroud scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
A punch combination from Stroud misses.
Stroud is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Tinaway changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Stroud tries to avoid it but Tinaway manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Stroud to the ground. Stroud escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Stroud lands with a straight right. Tinaway didn't see that one coming.


Tinaway is rocked!
Stroud drops Tinaway with a big left hand! Tinaway is injured, injured bad! Stroud jumps in and finished him with strikes! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tom Stroud!
An out of breath Tom Stroud thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
