Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between JJ Johnston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter McBain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnston comes to the cage accompanied by Shackler's Revenge - Guns N Roses. McBain is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Alien8. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, JJ Johnston! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Peter McBain! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Dillan Fox and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McBain fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Johnston is out of range. Johnston misses with a series of wild punches.
McBain throws a sloppy head kick and Johnston moves out of range easily. McBain digs a good body shot into Johnston's ribs. McBain throws a head kick but Johnston moves out of range.
McBain getting the better of the striking in that exchange. A head kick misses from McBain. McBain throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. McBain is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. McBain misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
McBain slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. McBain throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Johnston throws a lazy head kick and McBain counters with a series of strikes. Johnston will be more careful next time no doubt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnston doesn't manage to clinch there - McBain circles away.
Johnston throws a solid leg kick but McBain takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Johnston. McBain will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Johnston ducks right into an uppercut from McBain. Johnston avoids the head kick by McBain.
Johnston keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from McBain. Johnston tries to clinch up but McBain circles away and keeps his distance. McBain is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. A jab from McBain finds it's way through Johnston's defenses. Johnston misses with a hook. McBain connects with a good right hand that stumbles Johnston. Johnston circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Peter McBain seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnston is looking to take this fight into the clinch. McBain has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. McBain lands a head kick!

McBain tries to bum rush Johnston with a series of wild strikes but Johnston uses good footwork to avoid the assault. McBain throws a head kick that misses. Johnston ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. McBain misses with a right hand and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. McBain looks to score with a jab to the body but Johnston is just out of range. McBain pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Johnston drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. McBain throws a head kick that half lands.

McBain throws a lazy uppercut
and Johnston counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. McBain might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. McBain cracks Johnston with a right hand to the side of the head. Johnston gets a double leg takedown into McBain's guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Johnston looking to pass the guard. McBain keeping moving, preventing Johnston from controlling successfully. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Peter McBain dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Johnston takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Johnston has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Johnston is looking to clinch but McBain is avoiding it.

Johnston fails in his attempt to clinch. JJ Johnston is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. McBain throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
McBain throws a right hand that Johnston ducks under and follows up with a left that Johnston also avoids with ease. McBain throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. A head kick by McBain misses and Johnston counters by clinching up. McBain is trying to force a seperation but Johnston has the dominant position. Johnston lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of McBain backwards. McBain is trying to break free. McBain is trying to break the clinch but Johnston has him pressed against the cage. McBain has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McBain manages to break the clinch.

Johnston throws a head kick but McBain moves out of range.
Johnston throws a sloppy head kick and McBain moves out of range easily. Johnston looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Johnston scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Johnston trying to control the action but McBain is working from the bottom. This has been an exciting period of action! Johnston thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Johnston tries to advance to mount but can't. McBain tries to bench press Johnston off him but Johnston keeps the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Johnston tries to move to mount but McBain blocks the move with his legs. McBain wants to get back to his feet. Johnston tries to move to full mount but McBain actually manages to regain half guard. Johnston is keen to just control but McBain is a slippery customer. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that JJ Johnston will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

McBain leaves Johnston with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. McBain scores with a shot to the body.

Johnston moves out of range of the body kick. McBain throws a series of punches but Johnston moves out of range. McBain scores with a spinning back kick! A punch combination from McBain misses. A left and a right from McBain both land. Nice combination.

McBain breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. McBain misses with a two punch combination.

Johnston takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
McBain throws a head kick that misses. McBain pulls out of a head kick attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Johnston slips under a jab. Johnston is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Johnston tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. McBain tests Johnston's chin there with a solid looking shot. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts McBain, as that shot connected.
McBain throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

That's four minutes gone in the round. McBain takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Johnston ducks down and throws a hook to the body but McBain moves away. Johnston tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. McBain manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. A jab lands there for McBain. Johnston throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A punch combination from McBain misses. McBain throws a right and a left that both miss. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. McBain tries a head kick but it misses.
McBain defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Johnston. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for JJ Johnston. That's going to take a lot out of him. Johnston digs a good hook to McBain's body.
And that's the end of the fight! Peter McBain comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think McBain has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
