PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joe Blow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Don Rodriguez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joe Blow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Don Rodriguez!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Gwen Towbar and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rodriguez closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
A bit of stalling here from Blow.
Blow is trying to force a seperation but Rodriguez has the dominant position.

Rodriguez's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Blow leaves Rodriguez with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Rodriguez loads up on a big right hand but Blow slips the punch.
Rodriguez keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Rodriguez misses with a body shot.

Blow moves into range and clinches up with Rodriguez.
Blow could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Rodriguez is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Blow gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Blow tries to land knees in the clinch but Rodriguez avoids the damage to the body.

Rodriguez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Blow makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Blow has Rodriguez pressed against the cage, preventing Rodriguez from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Rodriguez tries to pull guard but Blow holds him up against the cage and eventually Rodriguez drops back down to his feet.

Rodriguez works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Blow wants to stand and escape but instead Rodriguez has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Joe Blow.

A close round but Don Rodriguez will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Rodriguez throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Blow's waist but Blow gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rodriguez off to one side.

Blow wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Rodriguez, who protects the arm well.

Rodriguez explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Rodriguez fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Blow manages to avoid it.
Rodriguez misses with a head kick.
Blow fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Rodriguez shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Blow defends it nicely.

Rodriguez shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Blow as he avoids it easily.
Blow tries to close the distance and clinch but Rodriguez swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Don Rodriguez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rodriguez gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Blow to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Blow is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Blow knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rodriguez on the ground.
Blow chips away with some ground and pound.
Blow throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Rodriguez works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Blow throws an elbow that misses. Rodriguez uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Blow's guard. Nice move by Rodriguez!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Rodriguez's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Blow is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Rodriguez pulls Blow in close to prevent any damage.
Blow lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Rodriguez looking for a triangle here. Blow is fighting it but it looks tight! Rodriguez pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Blow is tapping out - this one is all over!
