Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ron Jeremy! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Blaine Romo! The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Jeff Smith and Micheangelo Fripello.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jeremy decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Jeremy could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Jeremy thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Still in half guard, Jeremy seems content to control. Jeremy's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Jeremy missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Jeremy slips a nice elbow through Romo's hands, connecting with Romo's forehead. Jeremy is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Romo! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jeremy sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Romo looks winded!
That's one minute gone in the round. Jeremy lands with some strikes. Jeremy with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Jeremy controlling the position easily from mount. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Romo can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jeremy landing strikes from the mount and Romo is in trouble! Jeremy lands a heavy elbow. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Jeremy tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Jeremy lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Romo hang on?
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jeremy goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Romo turns into him and now he's in Jeremy's guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Jeremy throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Jeremy is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jeremy tries to land a sweep but no joy. Romo trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Jeremy wants to get back to his feet but Romo is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Jeremy has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jeremy keeping moving, preventing Romo from controlling successfully. Jeremy striking off his back but it's not causing Romo any problems. Jeremy is looking to sinch up a triangle. Romo throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Jeremy's body to avoid the submission. Jeremy has instead reached around Romo's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Jeremy arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
