Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Kakihara Wallace! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matts Serra! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Leandro Rodrigues and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wallace uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Serra. Serra misses with a body shot.
Wallace thows a body shot but no joy. Wallace uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Serra.
Serra keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Wallace throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Serra sees it coming and avoids it easily. Wallace misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Serra.
Serra lands a body shot.
Serra with a nice cross. Serra shoots for a double leg takedown but Wallace sprawls well. He's pushed Serra's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Serra slips under a jab from Wallace. Wallace swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Serra is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Wallace. Wallace wants to clinch. Wallace gets caught flat footed, as Serra shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Wallace will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
That's one minute gone in the round. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Serra tries to free his leg and advance position but Wallace is retaining full guard. Wallace keeping moving, preventing Serra from controlling successfully. Serra showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Serra looking to pass the guard. Serra trying to control the position from guard on top but Wallace is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Matts Serra wasn't active enough on the ground. Serra misses with a few strikes there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Serra has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Serra there as he acknowledges the shot. Wallace swings and misses with a hook to the body.

and Wallace cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Wallace slips a jab from Serra. Serra with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Wallace to score with a decent uppercut. A looping hook to the body misses from Serra. Wallace does a little dance to reset his feet. Serra throws a body punch but Wallace moves out of range. Serra looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Wallace manages to get to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Serra trying to control from Wallace's half guard. Wallace has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Wallace keeping moving, preventing Serra from controlling successfully. Serra wants to pass the guard but Wallace is keeping the position. Serra advances to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Serra is taking a breather. Wallace says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Serra is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Wallace defends it well. Wallace wants to get back to his feet.
Serra looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Matts Serra dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Serra scores with a jab to the jaw. Sloppy strikes from Serra. Those never looked like landing. Serra takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Kakihara Wallace seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wallace wants to land a leg kick but Serra is out of range. Wallace misses with a hook. Nice shot by Serra. Serra moves out of range as Wallace throws a body kick.
Wallace keeps the fight on the outside. A looping hook to the body misses from Wallace. Serra does a little dance to reset his feet. Serra shoots in and drives through. Wallace sprawls well. Wallace tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Serra is able to avoid easily. Wallace is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Serra uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Wallace.
That's one minute gone in the round. A big right from Wallace misses. Serra takes one on the button. Wallace lands the left hand. Wallace connects with a body shot that sends Serra's belly button to the back. Wallace's corner calls for a 1-2. Wallace obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Wallace just misses with a punch to the body.
Kakihara Wallace is winning the standup battle so far. Wallace swats away the attempt to clinch by Serra. Wallace is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Serra is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Wallace's half guard. Serra performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Serra is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Serra trying to control but Wallace is working from the bottom. Serra stops Wallace from standing up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Serra controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Serra stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wallace swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Matts Serra was stalling too much, according to the referee. Serra fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Kakihara Wallace has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matts Serra. Serra throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Wallace smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Serra shoots in for a takedown but Wallace shows good takedown defense. Serra lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Wallace at a distance.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Wallace throws a lazy right hand but Serra sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Wallace is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. Wallace slips a straight right by Serra. Serra throws a hook to the side of Wallace's head but Wallace sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Serra changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wallace was covering up waiting for the punch and Serra finishes the takedown easily into guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Serra controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Matts Serra has got the better of the ground game so far. Serra won't allow Wallace to get back to his feet.

Serra looking to sit in guard and control but Wallace gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Kakihara Wallace has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Wallace postures up.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kakihara Wallace. I think Serra has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
