PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tony Skins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Grzegorz Schab (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Schab has chosen Monopol - Zodiak na melanżu as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 30 - 0, fighting out of London, Tony Skins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Grzegorz Schab!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, William Gold and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Skins fails with an attempt to clinch.
Skins fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Skins throws a head kick that Schab semi-blocks.
Schab misses with a takedown attempt - Skins sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Skins slaps away a takedown attempt from Schab, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Schab avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Schab displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Skins.
Schab fails to land the takedown.
Tony Skins has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Grzegorz Schab.
Schab shoots in but no luck this time.

Schab feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Skins throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Schab postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Skins is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Schab, into his guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Skins trying to control but Schab is working from the bottom.

Schab is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Skins wants to pass the guard but Schab is keeping the position.
Schab can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Skins controls the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Tony Skins just wasn't active enough.
Skins fails with the takedown.
Skins tries to clinch

so Schab counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Skins escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Schab gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Schab drops back, looking for a kneebar! Skins looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Skins looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Skins!

Skins decides to stand up, so the ref orders Schab to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Skins shoots in for a takedown but Schab shows good takedown defense.
Schab shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Skins as he jumps to the side.
Schab blocks a head kick by Skins.
Schab will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Skins connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Schab shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Skins is looking for a triangle but Schab pushes his legs off easily.
Skins is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Schab wants to control from the top but Skins keeps moving.

Skins is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Skins seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Skins passes the guard and advances to mount!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Schab is looking to improve his position but Skins isn't that keen on the idea.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Tony Skins will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Schab shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Skins tries to kick Schab off but Schab keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Schab is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Schab looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Schab wants to control but Skins is keeping him busy.

Schab is working for a submission of some sort.
Skins preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Schab stops Skins from getting back to his feet.
Skins is trying to control but can't.

Schab is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Skins doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Schab.

Schab seems to be looking for submissions.

Skins is pressing down on Schab's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Schab throwing strikes from guard but Skins blocks nicely.
Skins lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Schab!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Skins trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Skins tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Skins raining down shots from the mount!
Skins tries to control but Schab wriggling away.
Schab tries to lock up and control but Skins gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Schab is trying desperately to improve position.
Tony Skins overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Skins trying to control but Schab is having none of it.
Schab tries to hold on but Skins postures up.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tony Skins dominated that second round.
That's time! Skins's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Schab moves out of range of the leg kick from Skins.
Skins shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Schab sprawls well. Schab wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Skins gets slowly back to his feet.
Skins tries to clinch there but Schab circles away.

Skins clinches up with Schab and pushes him back against the cage.
Skins prevents the takedown attempt.
Schab is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Skins is defending well.

Schab is looking for a takedown.
Tony Skins has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Grzegorz Schab.
Schab drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Skins gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Skins is trying to pull guard but Schab turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Schab takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Skins drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Schab has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Skins avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Schab keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Skins looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Skins sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Schab defending well though.

Skins throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Schab to regain full guard.
Skins showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Tony Skins.

Skins is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Schab's half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Skins is trying to control. Schab wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Skins passes the guard and advances to mount!

Skins misses with a head shot.
Schab gets back to half guard.
Skins is looking to advance position but Schab won't allow it.
Skins is stalling here. Schab is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Skins seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Schab has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Schab tries to advance to mount but Skins denies him.
Skins is not content to let Schab control the position.

Schab tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Schab has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Skins wants to control but Schab postures up.
Grzegorz Schab has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Tony Skins is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Tony Skins showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Skins has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
