Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aldon Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Merce Poindexter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Merce Poindexter is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Aldon Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

2 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Merce Poindexter!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Wesley Smith and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Smith missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Smith is nestled in close to Poindexter, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Poindexter is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Smith scores with a couple of nice shots.
Poindexter really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smith. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Poindexter wants to control but Smith is keeping busy.
Smith decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Smith pushes Poindexter up against the cage in a clinch.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Poindexter gets underhooks to prevent Smith's takedown attempt.
Smith lands a takedown into guard.
Smith stands up over Poindexter, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Poindexter is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Smith makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Smith postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round.

Smith lands a couple of elbows.
Poindexter is rocked!
Smith with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Poindexter is still in real trouble! Can Smith finish him?
Smith arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Poindexter's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Aldon Smith!
Our winner, Aldon Smith, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
