The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nowak fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Cony, pushing him back against the cage. Nowak landing knees to the head.

Michal Nowak clearly takes that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Cony is defended easily by Nowak. Nowak fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Cony. Nowak gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Cony to score an easy takedown into full guard. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Cony won't allow Nowak to get back to his feet. Cony is absolutely dripping with sweat - he looks exhausted. Nowak looking to sweep here. No luck so far. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cony drops back, looking for a kneebar! Nowak looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Nowak looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Nowak! Nowak knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cony on the ground. Nowak tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nowak trying to control the action but Cony is working from the bottom. Cony manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Cony wants to work for an arm triangle but Nowak is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
