Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ichiro Kosugi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jean Marie Mubiala!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Kosugi misses.
Mubiala throws a sloppy head kick and Kosugi moves out of range easily.
Kosugi shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Mubiala counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.


It looks like Ichiro Kosugi has been cut.

Kosugi pushes Mubiala up against the ropes in a clinch.
Nice body punch from Kosugi - that landed with a thud.
Mubiala working aggressively here.
Kosugi struggles to land a body shot inside as Mubiala controls his hands.
Mubiala keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Kosugi's efforts to push away.
Kosugi lands a right hand.
Mubiala lands with a short head shot on the inside.

Mubiala manages to break the clinch.
Mubiala throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Jean Marie Mubiala seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mubiala connects with an inside leg kick.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The fight stays on the outside here - Kosugi looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mubiala thuds his shin into the meat of Kosugi's side.

Kosugi shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Mubiala napping and manages to drive through into side control!
You can see the frustration on Mubiala's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Kosugi misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

The ground and pound from Kosugi seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Mubiala takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Mubiala tries to buck Kosugi off but Kosugi is having none of it.
Kosugi has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kosugi is looking to take a break and control but Mubiala is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Mubiala takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Kosugi working the ground and pound but Mubiala is defending the strikes.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Kosugi sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Mubiala is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Mubiala is looking for a sweep.

Kosugi working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Mubiala is looking for a sweep.
Mubiala is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Mubiala sneaks back into half guard.
Mubiala really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kosugi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Mubiala is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kosugi throws a strike but Mubiala avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Kosugi tries to free his leg and advance position but Mubiala is retaining full guard.
Mubiala keeping moving, preventing Kosugi from controlling successfully.
Mubiala wants to sweep but no luck.
Kosugi working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Mubiala is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Kosugi pushes Mubiala off looking to stand but Mubiala dives back in and keeps control.
The fighters are battling for position here. Kosugi manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Kosugi lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Mubiala!
Mubiala is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kosugi is in the full mount, landing strikes.
The referee warns Mubiala that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Mubiala tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Kosugi drops a big elbow. That's hurt Mubiala! More shots from Kosugi and the ref steps in! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ichiro Kosugi!
Ichiro Kosugi very nearly forgot to thank Reaper Combatwear amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
