0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Renan Zapelini! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Simon Mcbride! The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Konstantin Menshow and Vladimir Khabensky.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mcbride is trying hard to land a takedown here. Zapelini sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Zapelini gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Mcbride can't get the takedown.
Mcbride is trying to trip Zapelini. He has hold of a leg but Zapelini is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Mcbride persists though and gets the takedown into guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mcbride stopping the sweep attempt from Zapelini. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mcbride is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Mcbride postures up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Renan Zapelini. Zapelini has Mcbride up against the cage in a clinch.

Mcbride works his way back into a safe position though. Zapelini trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Mcbride is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Mcbride stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Zapelini swivels though and keeps the full guard. Zapelini is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Mcbride is looking to get to half guard. The referee warns Mcbride that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Mcbride bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Mcbride trying to control the position from guard on top but Zapelini is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Zapelini keeping full guard, as Mcbride tries to pass. Mcbride looks winded!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Zapelini is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Mcbride with a flurry of punches that miss. Zapelini trying to control the position.
Zapelini wants to get back to his feet but Mcbride is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Mcbride passes easily into side control. Nice work. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Mcbride taking a breather here. Zapelini gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Simon Mcbride will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Mcbride dives in and grabs Zapelini's left leg, looking for a takedown. Zapelini pushes down on Mcbride's head and hops out. Nice takedown defense from Mcbride. No joy for Zapelini on that attempt. Mcbride fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Zapelini takes the fight into the clinch. Mcbride has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Zapelini after a bit of a struggle. Renan Zapelini has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Simon Mcbride. Mcbride has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Zapelini avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Mcbride tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Zapelini smiles and moves away.
Zapelini rushes Mcbride and presses him up against the cage. Mcbride is breathing heavily. Mcbride goes for a takedown attempt but Zapelini pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Zapelini moves into the clinch. Zapelini tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Mcbride just stands there and leans against the cage. Zapelini gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Zapelini wants to stand and escape but instead Mcbride has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Mcbride looking to pass the guard. Zapelini not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Mcbride drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Mcbride jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Zapelini wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Mcbride stays in close to Zapelini's body and controls the position. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Mcbride is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Zapelini pulls him back up using the underhooks. A battle for position here, against the cage. Mcbride wants a takedown.
Zapelini's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Zapelini tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Zapelini lands a slapping body shot.

Mcbride has clasped his hands together around Zapelini's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Mcbride works his foot free and advances to mount. Mcbride misses with a head shot. Mcbride sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Mcbride working the ground and pound effectively.

Mcbride wants to control the pace but Zapelini is squirming around nicely. Mcbride cracks Zapelini with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Zapelini's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Mcbride controlling from the full mount. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Mcbride looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Simon Mcbride. I think Mcbride has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
