5 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jacob Smith! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Donatello Bradman and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Warburton gets tackled into the cage by Smith. Smith maintains the clinch. Warburton has clasped his hands together around Smith's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Smith is trying to improve his position. Smith gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Warburton sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Smith defending well though. Smith is looking to improve his position.
Smith works his way to full guard. Good work. Warburton has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Smith working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Warburton doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Warburton manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Smith looking for a guillotine here but Warburton defends easily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Warburton in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Warburton can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Warburton will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Smith pushes a forearm under Warburton's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Warburton is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
