PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marley Franco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Remco Dekker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dekker has chosen Thai Boxing as his entrance music. Remco Dekker told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Marley Franco!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Remco Dekker!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Nard Betker and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Franco throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Dekker.
Franco pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Franco tries to clinch up but Dekker circles away and keeps his distance.
Dekker avoids a punch combination nicely.
Franco fails in his attempt to clinch.
A chopping leg kick lands by Franco.
Franco shoots in looking for a takedown. Dekker tries to sprawl out of it but Franco keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Dekker manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Dekker looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Dekker is looking for a kimura but Franco is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Dekker to get the leverage.

Dekker uses his free foot to push down on Franco's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Franco.

Dekker jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Franco manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Dekker in side control, throwing shots but Franco defends.
Dekker postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Dekker creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Franco sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Dekker thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Dekker goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Franco has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Dekker but great work by Franco.

Dekker throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Dekker looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Franco is fending him off so far but Dekker persists. Nope, Franco circles away and we're back to standing.

Dekker tries to land knees in the clinch but Franco avoids the damage to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dekker has his feet on Franco's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Horrible takedown by Dekker or perhaps it was just good defense by Franco which made him look bad.

Franco throws a nice looking combination but Dekker bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Dekker doesn't manage to clinch there - Franco circles away.

Dekker connects with a nasty looking knee right to Franco's face.
Franco has had enough of the clinch but Dekker keeps him there for the moment.
Dekker drops down looking for an ankle pick but Franco pulls his leg out and moves away.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The fight stays on the outside here - Dekker looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
