Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Max Barreta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josh Ellis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ellis has chosen Space Lord - Monster Magnet as his entrance music. Max Barreta could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Josh Ellis's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Max Barreta! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Josh Ellis! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Damien Edna and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No joy there for Ellis, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Ellis looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Barreta closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Barreta taking a breather here. Ellis is trying to improve his position. Barreta is staying tight to Ellis's torso, preventing him from escaping. Barreta landing a few strikes. Ellis takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Barreta is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barreta looks up at the clock and then as Ellis takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Barreta smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Barreta knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ellis on the ground. Barreta throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Barreta working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Barreta working the head and body with strikes. Barreta taking a breather here. Barreta stands up and we're back to a striking position. Barreta wants to clinch. Barreta closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Ellis to the mat! Ellis manages to get full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ellis trying to control the position.
This has been an exciting period of action! Barreta won't allow Ellis to sweep him here. Barreta is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Ellis avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Barreta with a flurry of punches that miss. Barreta loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Ellis looking for a guillotine here but Barreta defends easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Barreta showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Barreta trying to control but Ellis is working from the bottom. Ellis can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Barreta controls the pace.
Max Barreta has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Barreta changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ellis looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Barreta decides to stand back up. Barreta steps back and let's Ellis get back to his feet. Barreta closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ellis takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Ellis tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Barreta wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Ellis is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ellis is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Ellis seems a little lost for a moment, as Barreta dominates the positioning. Ellis is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Ellis takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Ellis is looking to reverse the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Max Barreta dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Barreta fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Ellis to the ground. Barreta is now in Ellis's guard. Barreta wanted to stand there but Ellis had control of the position. Barreta looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Barreta wants to control from the top but Ellis keeps moving. Ellis looking to control.
Barreta has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Ellis is proving hard to escape from. Max Barreta overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Max Barreta wasn't doing enough on the ground. Barreta scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Well, if Barreta is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Ellis wants to control but Barreta is keeping busy and won't allow it. Barreta looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Barreta looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Barreta looking to score a takedown here. Ellis is defending well but Barreta drives through and ends up in Ellis's guard. Ellis looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Barreta controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Barreta pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ellis is keeping the position for now. Ellis escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Barreta gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Barreta is in close to Ellis's body, working some short punches and elbows. Barreta stands and throws Ellis's legs to the side, diving into side control. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Barreta tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Barreta working the ground and pound. Barreta happy to just control the position for now. Barreta seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Ellis for as long as he can get away with. Ellis looking for a sweep but Barreta has passed into full mount! Oh no!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ellis can't escape the position.
Barreta scoring with strikes but Ellis is staying in there. Barreta lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Barreta controlling from mount. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Max Barreta dominated that second round. That's time! Barreta's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Ellis misses with a body kick. Barreta is looking to score with low kicks. Ellis uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Barreta.

Ellis shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Barreta gets the takedown into side control. Barreta decides to take the fight back to the feet. Barreta clinches. Barreta pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barreta throws a head kick that misses. Ellis tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Barreta takes the fight into the clinch. Barreta is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. Barreta tries for a takedown but Ellis manages to get underhooks.
Ellis is trying to break the clinch but Barreta has him pressed against the cage. Ellis being controlled against the cage. Barreta can't find room to land a body shot as Ellis controls the action.
Barreta is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Barreta escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ellis gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Barreta to score an easy takedown into full guard. Barreta wants to get up but he can't break Ellis's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Ellis throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Ellis controls Barreta momentarily but Barreta frees himself. Barreta scoring with punches to the head and body. Ellis looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Ellis keeping moving, preventing Barreta from controlling successfully. Barreta is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ellis can do to turn this around? The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Barreta is stalling in the full guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Max Barreta. Barreta scores with a nice strike.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Barreta shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ellis's guard. Ellis bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Barreta's guard. Ellis wants to control from the top but Barreta keeps moving. Barreta is trying to control the position from the bottom.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Barreta is on top in guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Ellis looking to hit a scissor sweep but Barreta is one step ahead there. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Ellis keeping moving, preventing Barreta from controlling successfully.
And that's the end of the fight! Max Barreta showed his dominance in that final round. Well Barreta has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
