Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jai McCracken! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Hugo Barrera! The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Johanna Lukiainen and Marco Blurström.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McCracken lands with a thumping leg kick.
Barrera fails with a takedown attempt. McCracken is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Barrera's half guard. McCracken is trying to control. Barrera wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. McCracken stalling. Barrera is trying to stand back up but McCracken is controlling him
McCracken not landing any meaningful shots this time. Barrera blocking the ground and pound attempt from McCracken. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Barrera is concentrating on defense, preventing McCracken from advancing position. McCracken missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. McCracken is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barrera won't allow McCracken to pass to mount. McCracken not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Barrera is not content to let McCracken control the position. Barrera really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McCracken. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. McCracken with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. McCracken connects with a nice short shot to Barrera's temple. Barrera trying to control from the bottom.
McCracken tries to pass the half guard into mount. Barrera knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. McCracken thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Barrera wants to get back to his feet.
McCracken controlling the action here. McCracken sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Barrera defending well though. McCracken lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! McCracken trying to control the action but Barrera is working from the bottom. McCracken has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. McCracken thows a huge punch but Barrera dodges it nicely.
McCracken wants to control but Barrera is keeping him busy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McCracken missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. McCracken frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Barrera is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Whack. That's a big, big shot from McCracken! Barrera is out cold! This one is all over!
