PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ilkka Laitinen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Stout (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Laitinen comes into the arena with AC/DC - Thunderstruck blaring out of the sound system. Stout has chosen Disturbed - Criminal as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stout walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Laitinen checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Stout tries a low kick but Laitinen avoids it.
Laitinen misses with a body shot.
Stout throws a leg kick
and Laitinen counters with a straight right hand.

It looks like Sam Stout has been cut.
Stout takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Stout lands a nice looking body shot.
Nice uppercut there from Laitinen.
Stout misses with a body shot.
Stout throws an overhand right that lands on Laitinen's shoulder, as Laitinen tries to avoid the shot.
Stout does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Sam Stout seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Laitinen chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Stout can pounce on him.
Laitinen doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Laitinen throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.

Laitinen fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Stout dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

and Laitinen makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Laitinen tries to score with a low kick but Stout moves his leg out of the way.

Laitinen is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Laitinen ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Stout moves away.
Laitinen connects with a good right hand that stumbles Stout. Stout circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Stout takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Stout will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Laitinen uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Stout.
Stout's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

Laitinen lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Laitinen tries a head kick but it misses.
Laitinen bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Stout's head backwards.
Laitinen checks the leg kick.
A punch lands to the side of Stout 's head but he takes it in his stride.

That has opened up Sam Stout's cut even more.
Laitinen takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Laitinen lands a leg kick that knocks Stout off balance momentarily.
Stout closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Laitinen scores with a hook to the body. Stout takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Laitinen fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Laitinen lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Stout falls backwards - clearly groggy! Laitinen dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!
