Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Peter Ward (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Wilson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ward kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Break Stuff. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Peter Ward! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 2, fighting out of Sydney, Mark Wilson! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Donatello Bradman and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Horrible takedown by Ward or perhaps it was just good defense by Wilson which made him look bad. Ward could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Wilson wants to clinch up but Ward keeps it at a distance. Ward shoots in and drives through. Wilson sprawls well. Wilson stuffs the takedown attempt from Ward. Ward gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Peter Ward. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ward shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Wilson pinned against the cage. Wilson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Ward keeps the fight on the outside. Wilson rushes Ward and presses him up against the cage. Ward is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Wilson pulls him back up using the underhooks. Ward drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Wilson gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Ward wants to take the fight to the mat but Wilson manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Good anti-grappling being displayed by Ward as Wilson tries to tie him up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wilson is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Ward has just dragged him back down to the mat. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Wilson tries to improve position but can't. Ward working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Ward tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ward has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Wilson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ward. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wilson stuck in half guard on the bottom here. Wilson is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Ward off and has taken his back! What can Ward do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wilson misses with punches from the back. Wilson really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Ward. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ward fails with a takedown attempt. Ward swats away the attempt to clinch by Wilson. Ward shoots in for a takedown but Wilson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Ward closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Wilson to the mat! Wilson manages to get full guard. Wilson controlling the position. Ward has gone for a leg lock! Wilson slips out almost immediately though and dives into Ward's guard. Ward being controlled here, momentarily.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Wilson clinches with his opponent.

Mark Wilson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Ward drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Wilson manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Ward has Wilson in his guard. Wilson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Ward works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Both fighters are breathing heavily.

And that's the end of the fight! Mark Wilson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Wilson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today.
