Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alessandro Maximilian (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Braddock Spong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alessandro Maximilian!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Braddock Spong!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Nard Betker and Patrick Alders.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maximilian scores with a kick to the midsection.

Spong closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Maximilian did well to prevent Spong getting side control.
Spong wants to take a breather but Maximilian is having none of it.

Spong is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Maximilian defends it well.

Spong tries to free his leg and advance position but Maximilian is retaining full guard.
Spong stands and throws Maximilian's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Maximilian knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Spong on the ground.

Spong swings around for an armbar but Maximilian sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Spong's guard.

Spong had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Maximilian defends it easily.

Spong throws his legs up looking for a submission but Maximilian uses it to pass to side control.
Spong is looking for a sweep.

Spong looks to move to half guard but instead Maximilian has passed into mount! Damn!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Spong is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Maximilian takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Spong is wriggling around trying to escape.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Maximilian gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Spong working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Maximilian's thigh. Maximilian counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Spong trying to control but Maximilian is working from the bottom.
Spong stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Maximilian swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Spong drops back, looking for a kneebar! Maximilian looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Maximilian looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Maximilian!
Maximilian gets to mount! Spong was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

Spong is desperately trying to improve his position but Maximilian has a good base and remains in mount.

Spong is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Maximilian pulls his head out easily.

Spong is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Spong makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Spong.
Maximilian is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Braddock Spong showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Spong doesn't manage to clinch there - Maximilian circles away.
Maximilian throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Spong dives in and grabs Maximilian's left leg, looking for a takedown. Maximilian pushes down on Spong's head and hops out.
Spong looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Maximilian is fending him off so far but Spong persists. Nope, Maximilian circles away and we're back to standing.
Maximilian connects with a leg kick. Spong looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Maximilian lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Maximilian clobbers Spong with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Spong tries to bum rush Maximilian with a series of wild strikes but Maximilian uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Spong tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Maximilian was well out of range. Poor timing from Spong.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Spong shoots for a takedown but Maximilian saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Spong takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Spong takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Spong's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

Spong is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Maximilian rather than just go for the knockout.

Braddock Spong has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
