Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Eric Morgan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Sunderland! The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Johanna Lukiainen and Marco Blurström.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sunderland lands a nice looking body shot.
Morgan fails with an attempt to clinch.
Morgan shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sunderland but Sunderland pushes him off and we're back to square one. Morgan closes the distance and clinches. Morgan is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Morgan goes for a takedown in the clinch but Sunderland prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eric Morgan. That's going to take a lot out of him. Sunderland creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Sunderland's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Morgan tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Sunderland with a body punch. A glancing blow. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Sunderland displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Morgan. Morgan is breathing heavily. Morgan tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sunderland swats him away and circles back towards the center. Morgan takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Sunderland pushes Morgan away with a front kick. Morgan tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Sunderland looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
A solid leg kick lands there for Sunderland.
Sunderland lands with a thumping leg kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sunderland keeps Morgan at a distance using the push kick. An inside leg kick lands from Sunderland. Sunderland scores with the left hand. Morgan knows he should have avoided that one.
It looks like Eric Morgan has been cut. James Sunderland is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Sunderland lands a big uppercut and Morgan crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Morgan looks OK. Sunderland waves Morgan back to his feet! Sunderland thuds his shin into the meat of Morgan's side. Sunderland throws an overhand right that drops Morgan like a sack of potatoes! Sunderland dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). James Sunderland! James Sunderland gave a mention to Steel Penn's Laundry 93% in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
